Berth No.2 construction Chan May port - Phase 1

On 23rd June, 2018, Chan May Port JSC officially commenced the construction of Berth No.2 (Phase 1) with the using purpose for bulk cargo and to orient Berth No.1 to be a berth for container and cruise ships.

As the Decision on investment approval by Management Board of Thua Thien Hue Economic and Industrial Zones, the project on Berth No.2 building is invested by Chan May Port JSC with total capital of VND 849 billion. The project has a total berth length of 280m, capable of receiving ships of up to 50,000DWT, including a berth of 225m in length, 32.5m in width, 2 piers, a dock area of 260m x100m and -14m in depth, a turning basin with a diameter of 340m and -13.5m in depth, shore embankment, yards and roads leading to the berth with the area of ​​4.92ha; buildings and technical networks and others, etc.

In the first phase, Chan May Port JSC will focus on building a wharf for 50,000 DWT ships; a pier; dredging dock area with -12.5 m in depth; dredging of turning basin with -12.2m in depth; embankment; roads leading to the berth, buildings and technical networks. The first phase costs over VND 385 billion, expected to be completed and put into operation in the beginning of 2020.

In the second phase (from 2020 to 2021), Chan May Port will finish the remains such as dredging dock area to the depth of -14m, dredging turning basin to the depth of -13.5m, building yards, roads and bulk yards, office and buildings and technical networks, port equipments, etc. Second phase totally costs about VND 464 billion and expected to complete and put into operation in 2021.

Chan May Port, one of national general seaports (Type 1) according to the master plan for Vietnam seaports to 2030, has affirmed more and more reliability to domestic and foreign customers, agents. The investment of Berth No.2 will bring development opportunities for Chan May Port to complete the objectives and tasks. Besides, the port has taken part in promoting the socio-economic development for Thua Thien Hue Province in particular and the region in general.
